PART 1: Barlights and Broken Dreams
It’s a hoppin’ and poppin’ night in downtown Dallas but bartender PHOEBE Lark (27) isn’t behind the mic — she’s watching others sing. A talented songwriter crippled by stage fright, she always runs off in shame. Still reeling from her mother’s death, she clings to one dream: performing at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. Back in her tiny apartment, her 10-year-old son DOUG, a football stats prodigy, wonders about his absent father, KYLE (28) — a charming screw-up she ordered out of their lives years ago. Searching online, Phoebe finds Kyle sober and thriving.Meanwhile, her sleazy landlord demands $3,000 in back rent,and Doug innocently reassures her: “You’ll get famous for singing, Mom.”

PART 2: the first step
Desperate, Phoebe forces herself onstage at The Respite Bar’s $1,000 contest. CORY Lyons (45), an old-school country manager, is stunned by her performance. He offers her a shot opening for The DL Jones Band — but where will Doug go while she’s on the road?
Flashback to Phoebe at ten years old: At her mother’s beauty salon, a battered, fugitive singer named BETTY Bond (35) rushes in, headed for the Ryman Auditorium. But before she can escape her abusive ex, Texas Rangers arrest Betty in front of young Phoebe. Before being taken away, Betty hands her Gibson over to her whispering: “You keep that guitar, sweetie. Find your dream.”
PART 3: Love and old mistakes
Back in the present, Phoebe calls POPS (65), her estranged father but can’t reopen that door. Instead, she turns to Kyle. Doug is thrilled — “Dad, I’ve missed you!” - Kyle takes him to a Cowboys game, but falls off the wagon, hiding his drinking from Doug.
While on tour, jealous lead singer Rachelle warns Phoebe: “Kitten, you’re not cut out for this.” As Phoebe’s performances go viral, she convinces Cory to get her on the ‘Ryman’s Legends and New Stars’ showcase.
PART 4: A Gamble Too Far
Meanwhile Kyle, desperate to prove himself, steals Phoebe’s savings and gambles it on the sports betting platform FanDuel. He loses, leaving Doug alone when the Sheriff arrives with an eviction notice. The night before her big debut, Betty Bond recognizes Phoebe’s guitar. They perform together, bringing the house down.
But Phoebe’s triumph is cut short —— Child Protective Services take Doug!
PART 5 : What Really Matters
Rushing home, Phoebe begs Pops to rescue her son. Doug, betrayed, screams: “You left me alone. I hate you!” Devastated, Phoebe quits touring swears off Kyle, and signs with Betty’s label — as a songwriter. Everyone deserves a chance to chase their dream, even if it’s not the one they imagined.
